Follow Up
A month ago I wrote a post about new beauty products I came across. Since, I've had a solid month of trying them out, I decided I'd write a follow up post talking about what I ended up reaching for the most and what I ended up liking and not liking.
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water: This is the best! I've already repurchased it, which is really the true test of how much you actually liked a product; if you're willing to buy it again. This also makes your skin feel really clean and like it removed all your makeup. I've used makeup wipes in the past and felt like I've had to use 2 or 3 before feeling like the majority of the makeup was off. Also, I'll mention, I haven't tried the one with the pink cap, just the one with the blue which is specifically for helping remove waterproof makeup. It does really good at removing waterproof mascara with little effort.
I talked about two different makeup primers, Nyx Cosmetics HD Studio Primer& e.l.f. Aqua Beauty Primer mist. At the time I'd used the Nyx primer only once, and I haven't reached for it since. That's because I've been using the e.l.f. primer mist, it's amazing. The one complaint I do have with it, it doesn't come out as a mist, more of a spray. To me those are two different things. To remedy that, I took the sprayer that come on the e.l.f. primer and exchanged it with the one that's on theL'oreal Setting Spray that way the primer comes out as more of a mist and not like you're getting splashed in the face. (It's kind of a hassle to switch them back and forth, but I use the primer daily and use the setting spray maybe once a week, so it's worth it.)
I'm pretty sure the Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Shampoo & Conditioner didn't actually make my hair blonder, at least it isn't obvious to me if it did. Which I can't complain because I figured it was probably branded more towards those who highlight their hair and want to brighten those highlights up. And even though I couldn't tell if it lightened my uncolored hair, it does smell really good and made my hair soft, so at least there is that.
The Tarte Tartelette 2 In Bloom Palette is still absolutely perfect. I've used it every day that I've worn makeup. I have quite a few eye shadow palettes and I'll use them a ton when I first get them. And by that I mean I'll use the same colors or do the same look for a solid month before moving onto a different palette. However, with the Tarte palette, I've actually used a majority of the colors, and I've actually been having fun trying different looks each day. Also that fact that it smells like chocolate may also be why I use it so much, just so I have a reason to open it.
I also want to mention a few hair products, some that I mentioned in my hair care post awhile back. Since that post I switch back to using the CHI Keratin Spray and the CHI 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection spray and I've decided I like those better. My hair doesn't feel as dry and started to just overall look better once I switched back to those products in place of the TRESemme Keratin Smooth Spray and Not Your Mother’s Beat the Heat Thermal styling spray.I also mentioned theDove Dry Shampoo and that sometimes I just prefer using baby powder in my hair instead of dry shampoo because I never liked how dry shampoo felt. While it made my hair appear cleaner because it soaked the oils up, the dry shampoo didn't make my hair feel cleaner, it felt weighed down by product. Well I discovered a trick (it might not even be a trick and I'm just late to this!) Usually after I would spray the dry shampoo, I'd rub it in so the white from the shampoo wasn't visible and then touch up curls or straighten pieces that started to bend(depending on the style). However the last times I've used dry shampoo, I've sprayed it at the roots, and then blow dried it with a round brush. And I'm telling you it makes a huge difference. My hair looks like it's just been washed, and it has lift at the roots instead of looking weighed down from product. This is probably a well known "trick" but since I just discovered it, I thought I'd share!I'm always on the hunt for new products to try (especially a new texturizing spray since my favorite was discontinued :'( ) What products do you think I should try next?
